Murder at the Oscars (November 2009)

On Friday 27th November Jeremiah’s Journey held their first ever Murder Mystery party at the Copthorne Hotel.  The ‘Christmas party with a twist’ was extremely popular and tickets sold out in record time!  There was a mix of attendees including local businesses and individuals.  The evening started with an opportunity for the guests to have their photograph taken on the red carpet by Russell Soper Photography.  They then sat and watched ‘oscar’ scenes unfold before their very eyes (acted out by CB productions)  whilst enjoying a three course meal.  At the end they had to guess ‘who dunnit’ to try and win a prize.  Guests also had the chance to bid on some fantastic auction items including dinner, bed and breakfast for two (kindly donated by the Copthorne Hotel), Bed & Breakfast for two (thanks to Pentille Castle) a signed argyle shirt and other fab prizes.  There was also a fantastic raffle with some fabulous prizes such as a £30 dining voucher (kindly donated by Heaven) and a Manicure, Pedicure and all over spray tan (kindly donated by Orchid Nails).  The event finished off with a disco (provided by What A Giggle), where guests could dance the night away to their favourite Christmas songs.  A big thank you to everyone who supported the evening either by attending donating a prize or sponsoring the event!  The event raised a fantastic £1900.  Watch this space for a similar event next year!

Plymouth Half Marathon (May 2009)

We would like to say congratulations to all of our runners for putting in their very best efforts at this year's Plymouth Half Marathon.  We were delighted to be the Plymouth Half Marathon’s chosen charity this year.    It was an amazing experience for Joanne and I to run along and keep spotting people in their Jeremiah's Journey vests.  Over 140 people ran for us, raised money through sponsorship and made this event such a great success for our charity.  Those who raised over £50 in sponsorship received a very special 'trophy'.

Thank you to Frank Elford for kindly donating the nutrition bars for the runners breakfasts.  Thank you to Mick and staff at The Mount Pleasant for hosting the breakfast and just for information for those of you who didn't make it, there wasn't a fried egg in sight! Thank you also to the crowd who cheered everyone along on the day, the African Drummers and the kind man who sprayed everyone with tap water, they all made it an event filled with community spirit.  We also want to thank our volunteers who did a fantastic job of selling thunder sticks and collecting money up on the Hoe.  The Grand total raised from our fantastic runners and donated by Babcock Marine was a fantastic £24,000!

Jeremiah's Journey Spring Ball (April 2009)

Jeremiah’s Journey merged with long time supporter Bluestone 360 to organise a fundraising ball with a difference.  On Saturday 25th April they were joined by 260 guests in the marquee at Boringdon Hall Hotel to enjoy a glamorous evening, packed with entertainment.  The guests enjoyed a three course meal, performances from the TJ’s dance group and singer Elle Kellman as well as an introduction to Bianca, Lady Eliot, the charity’s new patron (see  page 2 for more details).  Also available to the guests were psychic readings from Jan Cooke—Clairvoyant, professional       photographs from Rob Frost (see below), a luxury raffle and a silent auction, the top prize was a holiday in St. Lucia, kindly donated by Alistair & Kathryn Carnegie!  The evening was a huge success  raising a fantastic total of £10,424- five times the amount normally raised at these events!

Jeremiah’s Journey want to say a huge thank you to Bluestone 360 for all the hard work, time and effort they put in to organising the ball.  They also want to say thank you to Paul Chapman from Boringdon Hall for giving us a great price on the venue and food.  Thank you to Ben from the Treasury Restaurant and Bar, Mark from Stage Electrics, Mike & The TJ’s, Elle Kellman, Rob Frost, Jan Cooke, all the local businesses that either sponsored the event or donated raffle/auction prizes.  Of course a huge thank you to everyone who attended the event.
