Supporting Yourself

Supporting Yourself Through Your Own Grief

Parents and Carers have told us that sometimes when they are trying to support bereaved children, it can often mean that their own grief is put on hold. We feel that it is important that parents and carers have time to grieve and to find the support that works for them.

Here are some organisations to explore that some of our parents and carers have found useful:

www.wayfoundation.org.uk - support for adults who are young and have been widowed includes details of local contacts, advice and a book loan service.

www.uk-sobs.org.uk - offers support to survivors of bereavement through suicide includes details of local groups.

www.uk-sands.org - support for adults who have experienced the death of their baby during pregnancy or after birth.

www.childdeathhelpline.org.uk - telephone support provided by parents who have experienced the death of a child for parents in a similar situation.

www.tcf.org.uk - The Compassionate Friends offer support to bereaved parents and their families.
